Using the Translation Feature in Q.wiki: Maximum benefit for multilingual teams

Modified on Thu, 2 Apr at 4:22 PM

With the translation feature in Q.wiki, you can automatically translate content into various languages and collaborate more efficiently with international teams.

Important: The "Multilingual" module (Q.wiki Now only) must be activated. You can request a quote via the Modell Aachen website (external).

Enable translation

  1. Click the language icon in the top right corner.
  2. Select your target language, e.g. "Translate to: English".

The current page is translated into your chosen language immediately. Titles and content are automatically converted.

Available languages

The following target languages are available:

  • German
  • English
  • Dutch
  • French
  • Spanish
  • Portuguese
  • Swedish
  • Polish
  • Czech
  • Italian
  • Bulgarian
  • Serbian
  • Slovak
  • Slovenian
  • Hungarian
  • Romanian
  • Croatian
  • Ukrainian
  • Turkish
  • Chinese

Change target language

  1. Open the language icon.
  2. Select Change language.
  3. Choose a new target language.

The new language is applied immediately for all subsequent translations.

Return to the original

When a translation is active, you can return to the original content at any time:

  • Open the language icon and click Show original.
  • Alternatively, you'll find a subtle link in the banner that directs you back to the original language.

What gets translated?

The translation feature automatically translates:

  • Page titles
  • Page content

The function detects whether the original content is already in the target language and only translates when necessary.

Limitations

The following elements are currently not translated and remain visible in their original language:

  • Metadata
  • Glossary function (does not work in translation mode)
  • Images
  • Content from additional modules
  • Attachments and file pages
  • Overview of child pages
