Enabling Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) increases the security of your account by adding an additional factor required to log in to Q.wiki. This feature is available to you if your account is a local account.
Important: If MFA settings are not visible, your account is managed by your IT department. Contact your IT team in this case.
Prerequisites
- A local Q.wiki user account (not managed by IT)
- An authenticator app or password manager (e.g., Authenticator, Google Authenticator, 1Password)
Step-by-Step
Set up MFA
- Open your profile and navigate to the Security section.
- Click Set up.

- Follow the instructions displayed during the setup process.

- Scan the QR code with your authenticator app or enter the code manually.
Tip: You can use various methods for MFA, including common password managers and authenticator apps (e.g., 1Password).
- Click Activate.
- For final confirmation, enter the generated code from your app to complete the MFA setup.

Result
Once successfully set up, you will be required to enter your MFA code at each login.
Disable MFA
You can disable MFA at any time from the same location in your profile (under Security).
Manage MFA (for Key Users)
Key users can use the user management section to check which users have enabled MFA. You can also disable MFA for individual users if a user has locked themselves out.
