Multilingual content in the process area

Important: If you're building a management system for an international company with multiple locations, we recommend Q.wiki MultiSite (external). This allows you to implement interactive management system principles across language barriers without time-consuming and error-prone translations.

System Language and Content Language

Q.wiki distinguishes between two language components:

  • System language – Interface elements like the Save button
  • Content language – The language of your page content

System Language Multilingual Support

Q.wiki offers Deutsch, English, French, and Dutch as system languages. Your system language is determined by the language setting in your browser:

  • If your browser is set to Deutsch, French, or Dutch, Q.wiki appears in that language.
  • If your browser is set to any other language, Q.wiki appears in English.

Emails are sent in the language of the user who triggered the action.

You can set the system language for your Q.wiki to Deutsch or English in the configuration. Modell Aachen Service will adjust this setting for you.

Content Language Multilingual Support

Q.wiki offers automatic translation of content.

There are several ways to display Q.wiki content in different languages:

Different Locations with Different Languages

If your company has multiple locations with different languages, we recommend implementing Q.wiki MultiSite (external). A separate wiki is implemented for each location and language. Content that applies globally is made available locally in the corporate language as well.

Same Content in Multiple Languages

If you want to display identical content in multiple languages, the following approaches are available:

Integrated Translation

Integrated translation is recommended if you want to translate only some content and one language predominates.

Managed Translation

Managed translation is recommended if you want to keep content in different languages synchronized across revisions. The page owner can provide the supported languages themselves.

To implement this, add the content in the additional language below the existing content or as an additional column. Mark the different language sections with a heading (e.g., "Deutsch / English") and insert the automatic table of contents at the beginning of the page. The page owner ensures that the content remains synchronized as part of their approval process.
