The Glossary web

The glossary web, which can be reached via the entry Glossary in the left navigation bar, represents two different use cases:

  • The classic glossary entries, in which abbreviations or foreign words are provided with explanatory texts. These explanatory texts are displayed when a glossary entry is used in Q.wiki.
  • The role descriptions, which contains a detailed description of the roles. These descriptions are shown when the role name is used in Q.wiki.

More than one glossary section can be added to Q.wiki, e.g. to implement a thematic separation. To do this: Create new webs in Q.wiki


Glossary

Create new glossary entry

  1. The button Create new glossary entry opens a new page where a glossary entry is created.
  2. On this page, keywords are defined for which the description text should be displayed. Different spellings should be considered for the keywords (e.g. DNA, DNA, genotype). Each keyword must be confirmed with Enter.
  3. In the editor, the desired term explanation or, in the case of abbreviations, the written out term is inserted.
  4. As soon as the glossary entry is saved, it is underlined in the webs and a pop-up window appears when the mouse is positioned over the term.


Edit glossary entry

  • In the glossary entry, the Edit button can be used to change the entry.
  • In the pop-up window mentioned above, you can use the Edit button to change the entry.

Delete glossary entry

Important: You need key-user rights to perform the following steps.


To delete a glossary entry, select Manage page > Delete topic from the three-dot menu.


Role descriptions

Create new role description

  1. The Create New Role Description button opens a new page where a role description is created.
  2. On this page the Role identifier, the Level as well as the Role owner and Deputy are defined.
  3. In the editor, - in the delivery state of the template - the Tasks, Expertise and Responsibilities of the role are described.
  4. As soon as the role description is saved, it is underlined in the webs and a pop-up window appears when the mouse is positioned over the term.


Edit role description

  • In the role description, the Edit button can be used to change the entry.
  • In the pop-up window mentioned before, the Edit button can be used to change the entry.


Delete role description

Important: You need key-user rights to perform the following steps.


To delete a glossary entry, select Manage Page > Delete Topic from the three-dot menu. 


Additional information

  • The role description web can be hidden completely to use the glossary web as a glossary only. For this purpose, the support of Modell Aachen can be contacted. 
    • Important: If role descriptions have already been created, they should be deleted before, otherwise they will still be shown.
  • The template for creating a role description can be customized.
    • It is recommended to customize a role description according to your own wishes and to send a link to it to the support of Modell Aachen, who will do the customization.
    • Important: A customization has no effect on already created role descriptions. These must either be deleted and created again or adapted manually.
  • The naming (German and English) and number of levels of the role descriptions can be adjusted.
    • The new design will be brought into the system by the support of Modell Aachen.
    • Important
      • If role descriptions already exist, they must be manually assigned to the correct level after an extension of levels. 
      • If levels are removed, existing role descriptions must be manually assigned to a level existing after the conversion before the conversion.
