This step-by-step guide will help you install the Q.wiki Connect browser extension in your preferred browser.

Prerequisites

Important: Q.wiki Connect must be ordered via sales and activated by your admin in the system. You can order Q.wiki Connect here (external).

Step-by-Step

  2. Look for the extensions icon (puzzle piece) in the top-right corner of the navigation bar and click on it.
  3. Open your browser's extensions page:
    • Google Chrome: Select Manage extensions > Chrome Web Store
    • Microsoft Edge: Select Get extensions for Microsoft Edge
    • Mozilla Firefox: Select Add-ons > Find more add-ons
  4. Alternatively, you can access Q.wiki Connect directly via these links:
  5. Search for Q.wiki Connect and click Add or Get to install.
  6. Close the store and open Q.wiki in your browser.
  7. Q.wiki Connect automatically connects to your Q.wiki account. A message confirms: "Q.wiki Connect is paired."
Tip: For security reasons, connections from non-Q.wiki Now! systems require additional confirmation.
  8. You can now access Q.wiki Connect at any time via the icon on the right side of your browser.

Using Q.wiki Connect

Q.wiki is now connected to your browser and extends its functionality with Q.wiki documentation. Q.wiki Connect automatically recognizes all external links integrated in your Q.wiki documentation – that is, references to external websites that are part of process descriptions or work instructions.

When you open a website, service, or application in your browser that is linked in your Q.wiki documentation, Q.wiki Connect automatically detects which Q.wiki contents reference that URL. The extension then suggests the relevant Q.wiki documentation to support you.

Direct and indirect links

Q.wiki Connect distinguishes between two types of links:

  • Direct links (green): These occur when the page path exactly matches the address linked in Q.wiki, or the domain is configured to recognize parameters and URL fragments. These domains must be set up in your Q.wiki by service or consulting.
  • Indirect links (blue): These are recognized when the domain of the visited page matches a domain linked in Q.wiki, even if the path does not exactly match.

Through this intelligent recognition, Q.wiki Connect helps you access relevant Q.wiki content whenever you visit websites linked in your documentation.

Additional Settings

Settings options in Q.wiki Connect

Auto-Expand

When you enable Auto-Expand, Q.wiki Connect automatically opens whenever a direct link is detected on a website you're visiting.

Disconnect

Clicking the Lock icon disconnects Q.wiki Connect from your Q.wiki. The next Q.wiki you visit will automatically reconnect.

Manual Sync

Clicking the Sync icon triggers a manual update of recognized links from your Q.wiki. This is useful if a new link has been added to Q.wiki and you want to use that new link with Q.wiki Connect right away.
