What is Knowledge in a Box?

Knowledge in a Box is a help tool for the browser that provides context-based access to your company's existing knowledge resources. The aim of the Q.wiki Content Connector is to integrate employees into the Q.wiki. Instead of searching for existing instructions, templates, contact persons, etc., your employees will find exactly the right knowledge resources at the right moment.

How does Knowledge in a Box work?

It is a web application that accesses a neo4j graph database. The web application can be accessed either via the website https://kiab.app or via the corresponding browser extension.

The browser extension can be installed in Chrome and Edge. Compared to the website, the browser extension offers users three key advantages:

Users receive help parallel to the currently open website without having to switch windows.

Based on the URL, users can find existing knowledge resources without having to actively search for them.

Links, information and people can be linked to the currently open website in just a few seconds.

We recommend rolling out the plugin via IT.

Setting up single sign-on for the Q.wiki Content Connector

The setup of single sign-on works via Microsoft Entra ID. To do this, we need the support of your IT department.
1. we need the tenant ID of your Microsoft Entra ID instance to link the connector to the company login. This ID can be found in the Entra overview.
2. an Entra ID administrator then selects Microsoft SSO at https://kiab.app and starts the registration flow. It is sufficient for the admin to perform the login and release the service.
3. authorizations can be subsequently adjusted in Entra ID in the corresponding Enterprise Application > API Permissions. The authorizations for OpenID and email are important.

Does the browser extension monitor which websites users visit?

No. Knowledge in a Box is not a monitoring tool but a help tool. The currently open URL is compared locally on the user's PC with a list of URLs for which there is content in your Knowledge in a Box instance. A request is only made to the database when the browser extension is clicked.

We cannot and do not want to see or save which websites the users are visiting.
