Module Generator: Field types of data fields

General

Every field requires a name that is displayed to the user as a label.

Optionally, you can configure a field as required and add a tooltip.

  • Required field: When enabled, you cannot save the element if the field is empty.
  • Tooltip: When enabled, you can enter a help text. This text appears when the user hovers over the question mark icon next to the field name.

Field Types

Text

Text field type in Module Generator

Use case: Short input, sentences, data.

Settings:

Possible uses:

  • In table columns
  • In filters
  • In the module content title
  • In table columns as a link to the element

Number

Number field type in Module Generator

Use case: Entry of numeric values, e.g. budgets or costs.

Settings:

Possible uses:

  • In calculations (in fields of type Calculation)
  • In table columns
  • In the module content title
  • In table columns as a link to the element

Calculation

Calculation field type in Module Generator

Use case: Calculate a formula using fields of type Number and numeric values. When you click in the input field, all available number fields appear for selection. Use the operators +, −, *, / and parentheses ().

Possible uses:

  • In table columns
  • In the module content title

Selection from List

Selection from List field type in Module Generator

Use case: Selection from a predefined list.

Settings: Multiple selection possible. You can sort the options using drag&drop.

Possible uses:

  • In table columns
  • In filters
  • In the module content title
  • In table columns as a link to the element

Selection from Numeric Values

Selection from Numeric Values field type in Module Generator

Use case: Selection from a predefined list with numeric values.

Settings: You can sort the options using drag&drop.

Possible uses:

  • In table columns
  • In filters
  • In the module content title

User Selection

User Selection field type in Module Generator

Use case: Select one or more users or groups. You can use this selection, for example, in transition configurations for notifications.

Settings: Multiple selection possible. You can define which users or groups are selectable:

  • Users and groups – all users and groups in the system
  • Users only – all users in the system
  • Groups only – all groups in the system
  • Users of specific groups only – select a specific group from which users can be selected

Free Text Field

Free Text Field type in Module Generator

Use case: Multi-line text up to 500 characters. Use this field type for detailed information.

Settings:

Possible uses:

Selection from Q.wiki Pages

Selection from Q.wiki Pages field type in Module Generator

Use case: Link to content from Q.wiki.

Settings: Multiple selection possible. You can restrict the selection to a specific Q.wiki module.

Date

Date field type in Module Generator

Use case: Entry of a date.

Settings:

Email

Email field type in Module Generator

Use case: Entry of an email address.

Use case: Entry of URLs. They are displayed as clickable links in the element.
