Module Generator: Create form item

Modified on Thu, 2 Apr at 4:20 PM

When you start a configuration based on an empty template, the form is initially blank. The layout of a detail page within the workflow is assembled from content blocks.

Example: Empty configuration form with button to add content blocks

Adding a content block

When you add a new content block, you will be prompted to select its type:

Available block types

Block type Description
Data fields (1-column) Form fields in single-column layout. Suitable for larger data fields.
Data fields (2-column) Form fields in two-column arrangement.
Data fields (3-column) Form fields in three-column arrangement. Suitable for shorter inputs.
Large free text field An editor similar to the one in the process area. Can only be used once per module.
Task management Integrated task management similar to the protocol module. Can be used multiple times to group tasks thematically or chronologically.
Attachments Allows uploading attachments. Can be used multiple times to organize attachments thematically.
Link to processes and modules Allows selecting pages from the process area via autocomplete. Selected processes are displayed as links in the form. In the process area, the module content appears in a block called Linked content from modules below the actual page content. The display follows the table layout of the respective module's home page.
Tip: The individual block types are explained in detail in further articles.

Managing content blocks

Expanding and collapsing

Click on the title bar of a content block to expand or collapse it. For better clarity, only one block is open at a time.

Changing order

You can reorder content blocks by dragging and dropping them using the title bar. The order in the configuration determines the order in the final form later.

Drag-and-drop example: Moving a content block with the mouse pointer

Deleting a block or configuring permissions

When you hover your mouse over a content block, a three-dot menu appears in the title bar. You'll find the following options there:

  • Delete content block – Deletes the block including all associated data (fields, tasks, or attachments). A confirmation dialog protects against accidental deletion.
  • Configure permissions and visibility – Sets access and visibility for the block.

Configuring a block

Each content block has a configurable title and an optional text field for additional information or explanations that will be displayed in the final form later.

Result

Your module is now built from individual content blocks. The blocks will appear in the detail form in the order you set in the configuration.
