A content block is the visual and logical unit for grouping data fields in a form. Data fields can be simple or multi-line text fields – for example, for an article number or name – as well as selection fields for users and pages in Q.wiki.
Layout Options
When creating a new content block, you can choose from three different layouts for your data fields. The layouts differ in the number of columns:
- Single column: More space per field – suitable for extensive input and data.
- Multiple columns: Allows division within the block – suitable for displaying multiple shorter entries clearly.
Adding Data Fields
To add a data field to a column in your content block, use the Add field button. A sidebar opens where you can configure the field details. The maintenance and options for the various field types are described in detail in the article Field types for data fields.
Editing Existing Data Fields
When you select an existing data field, the sidebar opens so you can adjust its configuration or delete it. The field type cannot be changed afterwards, as data conversion is often not possible.
Moving Data Fields (Drag & Drop)
You can move data fields afterwards using drag and drop:
- to change their order within a column,
- to move them to a different column, or
- to move them to a different content block.
To move a data field to a different content block, drag it over the title bar of the target content block and drop it there. You can then fine-tune the positioning by expanding the target content block.
Changing the Layout Afterwards
The layout of a content block cannot be changed afterwards. If this becomes necessary, create a new content block with the desired layout and move your data fields as described.
