The page header is the upper section of every Q.wiki page, displaying metadata such as the title, page owners, and approval status. You can control whether this area is visible to all users or hidden.
What is the page header?
The page header appears at the top of every page in the Processes module and shows key metadata at a glance:
- Page title
- Page owners
- Approval status and approval date
Show or hide – when does each make sense?
| Page header visible | Page header hidden |
|---|---|
| Metadata should be visible to all users directly on the page | Pages with a custom title layout or cover page where the header would interfere visually |
| Transparency about approval status and responsibility is important | Process overviews and structure pages (2nd level): These pages primarily contain links rather than approvable content such as process descriptions or work instructions. Hiding the page header creates a clean, uncluttered look. |
Tip: Disable the approval workflow on structure pages
If you hide the page header on process overviews and structure pages, it also makes sense to disable the approval workflow there. There are two reasons for this:
- Structure pages typically contain only links – no process descriptions or work instructions that need to go through a formal review.
- Changes to the second level happen frequently (e.g. new links, reorganised sections). Running a full approval workflow with a four-eyes check would be disproportionate effort for this type of content.
Key Users can disable the approval workflow for individual pages themselves – see Approval workflow in Q.wiki for a step-by-step guide.
