App Generator: Basic function of the key figure app

Note: The key figures app presented in this article has been created based on the default app template of the app generator. The apps created with the app generator can be customized to meet individual requirements. This guide describes the basic functions of the standard app template.

Aim of the app

The purpose of the application is to manage the key figures collected in Q.wiki. It is not possible to import or report key figures from other IT systems.

In the application, it is also possible to control measures for the improvement or compliance of key figures.

Procedure

New key figure profiles are created in the application, enriched with the available information and saved. Afterwards, this key figure is active and can be archived, restored or deleted if necessary.

The following key data, among others, are defined in a key figure profile:

  • Name of the key figure with associated unit
  • the key figure type
  • Person responsible
  • Core process affiliation
  • Target value / target value and target
  • Tolerance values / action limits
  • Escalation rules

The escalation rules are an integral part of defining the procedure to be followed when intervention limits are exceeded.

In addition to these key data of a key figure, the following information is required for the survey and reporting:

  • Person responsible for the survey
  • Frequency
  • Storage location of the collected data
  • Methodology of collection, analysis and evaluation

If a KPI is used to control or evaluate a process, it can be linked to the process description in Q.wiki. This makes it possible to see at the end of the process description which key figures influence a process. A useful side effect is the clarity in the context of an audit.

If a KPI exceeds the specified tolerance values, it may be necessary to take measures to steer the KPI back into the desired range. The task management in the KPI is the place where just such measures can be created, tasks assigned and their effectiveness tracked.

Rights management

The Roles tab of the configuration defines which users or groups are assigned to the KPI Manager role. These role owners can archive, restore and delete the KPI reports. In addition, a view protection can be configured subsequently for individual key figure reports. This defines an information group that is only allowed to view certain key figure profiles.

Possible customizations

No mandatory adjustments are necessary in the KPI app. Individual settings regarding the information content of a KPI profile are adjusted via additional data fields or rights settings.
