Accessing the Configuration
There are two ways to access a module's configuration:
- As a Key User: Go to Tools > Module Management > Configurations
- As an authorized user: Open the module and click the three-dot menu > Configure module
- You are authorized if you are listed in the configuration under Overview > Base > Extend responsibility to the following users.

Configuration Functions
The configuration functions are located in the top right of the configuration interface:
- Test configuration: Creates a temporary module with the current configuration so you can preview it.
- The menu (three-dot icon) offers additional functions:
- Create module (shown only if no module exists for this configuration): Creates the module based on the configuration.
- Update module: Applies the current configuration to the module and automatically starts any necessary data migrations after you confirm.
- Save as module template: Saves the configuration as a template. It will then be available under My templates in the + New configuration dialog in Module Management.
- Reset configuration: Resets the configuration to the current module's configuration state.
- Delete (shown only if no module exists for this configuration): Deletes the configuration.
- Save: Saves the entire configuration without applying it to the module.
Good to know: Q.wiki automatically saves your configuration every three minutes.
- Close configuration: Closes the configuration page and redirects you to the module's overview page.
- Status indicator: Shows the configuration's status:
- Green: No issues detected.
- Orange: The configuration can be applied, but contains logic errors or other issues. Click the indicator to see details.
- Red: The configuration cannot be applied until the underlying issues are resolved. Click the indicator for details.
Navigating the Configuration
The tabs below the module name group individual configuration settings. They are arranged in a logical order that provides a sensible sequence for editing:
- Data and Views: Design the form.
- Workflow: Configure the process flow.
- Overview: Define the overview page and basic permissions and settings.
- Roles: Create roles for use within the configuration and modules.
Important: When editing a configuration, you will be prompted to confirm certain changes, such as data migrations or deletions of content blocks. Keep in mind: These changes only affect the configuration – they only take effect on your production modules after you apply the configuration.
